Exercise and Anxiety

Heyyyy Everyone,

I have recently found that my anxiety is taking over lots of aspects of my life and is becoming quite a problem. It's difficult when your suffering with anxiety to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Quite often when I have had a bad day suffering all I want to do is hide away in my bedroom, shut the world out, and cry myself to sleep, but that's certainly not the best way to deal with the problem because then you are just letting it take over your life. Before you know it your spending over 4 days away trapped in your bedroom and your mind is going into overdrive. 

Just over a month ago I decided I wanted to try to loose the extra weight I gained on my recent travels around America and get beach ready for Australia. I'm not very good at motivating myself to do exercise and crisps are just far too tempting to go on a diet. So if I was going to get down to the weight I want to be I knew that I needed help! I decided to sign myself up to 'RAWR', a local bootcamp with 30 minute HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) sessions that will work every muscle in your body.

What I discovered has been life changing. Not only am I getting fit and feeling more confident about my body, it also helps SOOO much with anxiety. Don't get me wrong, when I've had a really bad day dragging myself to bootcamp can prove difficult and I have let myself slip and locked myself in my bedroom on a couple of occasions when I should of been out exercising, but what pushes me to go is the feeling of relieve I get afterwards, its like a session of bootcamp lifts the weight of anxiety off my shoulders for the evening and I can relax. 

I think it is important that I point out that I don't think exercise is a cure for anxiety, it just helps, and I also don't think every type of exercise will help. The reason bootcamp helps me is because it completely takes my mind off everything, going for a run would probably make me feel worst because I would have time to think and my mind would be running at a million miles an hour, but with bootcamp I am focused on the different exercises I have to get my head round, it is fast paced so there are no points when you can stop and think, and it is a group session so you can have a good chat and catch up with everyone there. 

RAWR have really helped in my life, I know they are a bit local and most my readers don't live near me, but I still wanted to write this blog to not just promote Viva Livin but to promote group personal training sessions in general. Blog Birthday Party

Heyyyyy Everyone, 

So my plans for this fantastic party didn't quite go right, after being poorly and doing no preperation and then going to Alton Towers on Saturday when I should of been cooking / baking it was never going to be the fantastic bash I'd got in mind. I'm sorry but sometimes things just don't go to plan and why would I turn down a free trip to Alton Towers?
Nevertheless the party still went ahead and we all got rather tipsy celebrating my blog birthday! I thought I would share with you a few things I did to make feel a bit more special than just a general 'piss up'! 

Firstly I decided to put a twist on a big favourite with my friends, vodka jelly. I decided to make vodka jelly inside a watermelon! 

It's really simple to do as you can see from the images. As you can see from the final image my jelly was very wobbly and my intention to be able to bite into it like an actual watermelon didn't quite happen. I realised where I had gone wrong was I hadn't scraped out the inside of the watermelon enough, you need to get right down to the 'white' edges so that there is no moisture that the jelly can soak up. We ended up tucking in with a spoon but I will definitely be trying this again to perfect the watermelon feel! 

Don't get rid of the centre of the watermelon, that can be used for another drink shown below. Simply watermelon juice mixed with prosecco. 

There was mixed views on this drink. I initially liked just mixing the juice together with the prosecco, but some felt it wasn't sweet enough. So we tried boiling the watermelon juice and dissolving some sugar into it and then let it chill in the fridge. I wasn't so keen on this version but one of my friends was drinking it all night. You'll have to give it a go and see what you prefer!

I just did simple food because I wanted to be able to enjoy the party and not be cooking the whole time. So I just popped round to my local Waitrose and picked up some Pizza Express Pizza's, Tyrrells crisps and some humous to dip! It was yummy!!!  

And that was that, we drank watermelon prosecco's and ate our way through half a vodka jelly watermelon, danced, sang and got a bit merry! I really enjoyed having an excuse to throw a party and I might be finding more excuses to have my friends round and get drunk! I hope you enjoyed this blog and I am sorry again that it wasn't quite the Blog Party I had in mind.

Blog Birthday Fail

Heyyyyy Everyone, 

I have a massive apology to make. You may have come over to my blog a few hours ago for your first instalment of my party planning and you were probably thinking 'ayy where is it'. I've unfortunately been a bit poorly the last few days. I went to the doctors tonight to sort it out and he has given me some antibiotics, but unfortunately that means I'm going to feel worst before I get better! I had fully planned to get my 'decoration' on tonight and get the blog up for you but I ran out of time before the doctors and now I just really don't feel like it. I'm currently wrapped up in a blanket with a cup of tea and a disney movie and I have no intention of moving apart from to go to bed in a few hours! 

I promise you I will still be having a party at the weekend and the blogs will all be up, they may just all have to go up together as one loooong post! I'm really sorry, you know when your poorly you just have no motivation to do anything! 

I'll take today and probably tomorrow to recover, but expect a nice cheeky few party blogs on Saturday and Sunday.

Blog Birthday - Turning 2 Years Old!

Heyyyy Everyone, 

Oooo it's the end of the month and this isn't a book review. I am sorry if you came looking for my monthly book review, I promise you the usual schedule will be resumed but for now we have something very exciting to discuss...the fact that on Sunday it's our 2nd Birthday! Yaaaaaay 'Happy Birthday EmmaJessica Chatterbox!' So to celebrate I have put together a bit of a party!! 

The party will take place on Sunday with some family and friends and I am going to prepare everything so it has a homemade feel to it. So I thought, why not blog about it, I mean it is to celebrate this blog after all! So here's what to expect this week!
