March 2014: A Street Cat Named Bob

Heyyyy Everyone,

A book review on the amazingly written, true story of James Bowen's life on the streets and how Bob changed everything!

I have LOVED March's read! A Street Cat Named Bob is a true story about a busker who meets a cat that changes his life. It's a beautiful story and it helps that it is true because I just found it all so touching. I have found myself looking at buskers/street performers and Big Issue sellers differently and wondering what their story is. What I have also really liked about it is that it is easy to pick up and put down.. that probably doesn't really make sense, but because I have been super busy at university there have been nights I've been too busy to read and I like a book that is easy to pick up and carry on even if I haven't read for a few days, does that make sense?

I FULLY recommend this book! I want a Bob!! I have downloaded the next book onto my kindle "The World According To Bob" and can't wait to read it. However, it's not going to be my April read. My April read is a book I am borrowing off a friend, "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn. I've heard a lot of good reviews so I am looking forward to it. Are you going to read along? Or maybe give Bob a read?

Bargain Buys #1

Heyyyy Everyone,

I don't know about you but I love a good bargain, and when I find one I just have to share it! I immediately call a friend saying 'you'll never guess what I've just found!'
Well I thought I would share with you my recent find! I've wanted the Nina Kurt Geiger shoes for bloody ages. In fact I thought about asking for them last christmas but realised they were probably a bit too summery! So I've had my eye on them since, thinking they would be a perfect item on my birthday list...

Then, I was walking through town the other week with a friend of mine and out the corner of my eye I spotted the exact shoes.. 'but that can't be right' I thought 'we don't have a Kurt Geiger in the center of Sheffield!' No they were in fact in Dorothy Perkins! I went back with my mum to try them on and sure enough they look exactly the same! Being from DP's I was able to get student discount which meant the price went from Kurt Geigers Nina's at £95 to DP's copies with discount at a whopping £22.50!!! BARGAIN RIGHT!

Now, if you want to be fuzzy you can see from the image that they are a slight different shade of nude and the buckle is gold rather than the silver Kurt Geiger version, but JEEZ who's going to notice that!!

Go out and get yourself a pair before they all sell out, I'm even tempted to get them in a different colour because I can already tell that I will wear them to death this summer!! Found any good bargains recently??

Birthday Wish List

Heyyyy Everyone,

It's March, which means it's my birthday next month! YAY! So my birthday isn't actually until the last week of April but it is still next month which means I am allowed to start my birthday list! There are quite a few practical things on my list this year because I have recently discovered some lovely items for my skin and health but they are far too expensive for me to treat myself to, So I thought I'd stick them on my birthday list! Not going to lie, it's a rather long list, but that's because I haven't been treating myself lately (been saving money).

1. Jo Malone Candle - I have a tiny obsession with candles and Jo Malone candles have got to be the ultimate. My mum has them and they smell AMAZING! They are quite out of my price range though.

2. Microdermabrasion - Last year I had a personal problem which left my skin in a terrible condition, I broke out into 13 year acne and could barely wear make-up. Luckily for me it has been sorted now but I still have some evidence of the problem left in scars/marks. My beautician has recommended this treatment. Microdermabrasion is a general term for the application of tiny rough grains to buff away the surface layer of skin. I really want to give it a go and see if it helps! Unfortunately, it does not come cheap! It is about £250 for 6 sessions from my beautician!

3. Pukka Tea - I recently treated myself to the Pukka 'Night Time' tea and I love it!! I am away this weekend and am gutted I didn't bring some tea bags with me because I am going to miss it! I want to try more! I like the look of 'cleanse' and 'refresh', but I would like to get round to trying them all. When I have my own house I will have a cupboard dedicated to tea!

4. The Juice Radiance Cleanse - Have you read Tanya's latest blog? She has done the Radiance 'Greens Cleanse'. I love the sound of it! A 3 day juice cleanse which leaves you feeling fantastic and energised, give me some of that! After reading the blog I immediately went to the Radiance website and was shocked by the prices!! Noooo, I thought, I want this but theres no way I can justify spending that much on juice (£245 for 3 days). So it goes on my birthday list! I always think with bigs things like this family can chip in together and get me something I will enjoy!

5. Bio Oil - Again, along side the Microdermabrasion, bio oil is going to be great for the problems I have been having with my skin. I also think it's just great to have in the house because you can put it on any scars or any recent scratches that may turn into scars and it clears them up! It's not cheap though, the big 200ml bottle is £19.99 from boots!

6. Topshop Haul - It's typical that when you have a voucher to spend you can't find anything you particularly like but when you don't have money you like the whole store! That happened to me when browsing this weekend! Here's a few of the things I liked:

Diamond Print Shirt £38, Bunny Jumper £24, Heart PJ's/Loungewear £43

7. Lush - Just lush products! I love my bath time and who wouldn't want their bath smelling AMAZING! The lush shop is one of my fave places to hang out (I'm cool aren't I)!

Don't get me wrong I could continue to add things to my list, I have seen some beautiful jewellery in Accessorise, some amazing shoes in Kurt Geiger, and whilst I'm at it I quite fancy a trip to Hawaii, but I'll keep dreaming! What's on your wish list at the moment?

Poor Women's Facial

Heyyyy Everyone,

I thought I would share with you one of my beauty tips today. Beware beauticians because I am about to steal all of your clients!!! JOKE! If you can afford to get facials please continue to get them, this is by no means a replacement for a facial, this is just for people like me who can't afford facials (BOOHOO for me).

So just recently I have been suffering quite badly with black heads. I noticed that when I got out the shower they were more noticeable and realised this is because I have my showers SOOOO hot that the steam was opening my pores! That reminded me of what my mum used to make me do when I was a young teenager suffering with acne. So here goes;

Step 1: Fill a bowl with boiling hot water (from the kettle)

Step 2: Place your face over the bowl and put a towel on your head - so that the steam is trapped in with you

Step 3: You should stay like this for as long as you can stand but please do not burn yourself!!

Step 4: As soon as I take my face out I like to find some of the big spots or blackheads that have come right to the surface and squeeze them out (warning: I am not sure if this is technically right so beauticians please do not jump down my throat, but I always think better out than in ay! LOL)

Step 5: Cleanse your skin - you can get really cheap cleansers from Superdrug, I normally wait till there is one on offer. At the moment I am using 'Simple kind to the skin pore minimising toning cleanser'

Pretty easy don't you think! I would normally try to do this on a Saturday night as I know I won't be wearing make up on a Sunday, Sunday is my face's day of rest! I think its better to do this when your not going to wear make up for a while because you don't want to open your pores and then clog them back up again! On the sunday I would wash with a soap bar and then cleanse in the morning and evening just to keep my skin fresh throughout the day!

Give it a go and tell me what you think. It's not exactly advice from a beautician but sometimes its the simple things that make a difference!
