Jan 2014: Goodnight Beautiful

Heyyyy Everyone,

My first book review. I realise I didn't give you warning as to what the book would be this month but that's because I decided half way through the month, 'hey I read a lot, I should blog that', but don't worry, from now on I will tell you the book I will read each month and you can read along with me. Or just have a look at my reviews to see whether you fancy reading it!

I was recommended Dorothy Koomson by a good friend of mine, she suggested reading 'My Best Friends Girl' and when I text her after saying how amazingly amazing it was she said I had to read 'Goodnight, Beautiful' next.

It's so difficult to give you an idea of what this book is about without giving away the story line, and I certainly don't want to do that because I want you to read it! Here is my best attempt at telling you a few things without giving too much away:

'Nova agrees to have a baby for Mal and Steph, but halfway through the pregnancy they change their mind and walk away, leaving Nova pregnant and with a decision to make. 8 years later Nova gets in touch with Mal because something has happened...'

Wow didn't give you much to go by there did I but I can sense you are already on amazon about to order it ;) if not, you should be! Well I enjoyed it enough to want to buy another Dorothy Koomson book, I love her style of writing. Don't get me wrong there were a few times I put the book down and wasn't dying to pick it back up but I'm not sure if that's because I have been busy with Uni work as well and wasn't able to get into as much as I normally would. I will tell you that I cried! Don't get me wrong I am a massive crier, I will even cry at TV adverts, but it takes a good book to make me cry, I think it's because of the lack of visual emotion, but this book made me cry!

I feel like I haven't really reviewed it very well (maybe my plan to create monthly book reviews wasn't such a good idea, oops) but I think it's because it's one of them books when you just have to say read it, I can't tell you anymore just read it. If you like a hooking story, a girly book but NOT a chick-flick then you will like it. And if you do like Dorothy Koomson go on to read 'My Best Friends Girl' because that is, OHMYGOD, amazing!

I hope you liked my first book review, any suggestions of books for me to read and review please comment below. Next month I will be reviewing Dawn French's 'A tiny bit Marvellous'

Peaches & Cream Designs

Heyyyy Everyone,

I see you, checking me out! Yeah, look at me and my sexy new design! What do you think?

As mentioned HERE, one of my New Years Resolutions was to blog more. With investing more time into my blog, I thought I'd better make it somewhere I want to spend a lot of time. So we've had a make over! And it's all thanks to Peaches & Cream Designs. When I tweeted about struggling to design my blog myself the lovely Ana tweeted me back with a link to her blog/website. As soon as I saw her caption line ('You look pretty today, so should your blog') I was sold. I gotta have me some of that!!

Working with Peaches & Cream Designs was a pleasure and if your looking to have anything designed please consider working with the lovely Ana. You can find there website HERE

So what do you think my lovelies, you liiiike?

Banana Loaf

Heyyyy Everyone,

I went to visit a very good friend last week and I hate to turn up to someones house empty handed. So I put on my apron and did some baking. It was important to choose something everyone would like so I went for the classic Banana Loaf. It's a really simple recipe and I'm sure you will have the ingredients lying around so why not have a go.

(I have to admit this isn't a picture of my baking, it is taken from the recipe I used, but it's because I was rushing when I'd made it and before I knew it we had eaten it all and I realised  I hadn't taken a picture! Rubbish!)

The Ingredients
125g Butter
150g Caster Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 Beaten Egg
2 very ripe Bananas, mashed
190g Self Raising Flour
60ml Milk

1. As always, first wash your hands please, we don't want any germs getting into your lovely loaf! (does that sound rude or is it just me? teehee)

2. Grease you loaf tin and pre-heat your oven at 170C

3. To get started you need to melt the butter, sugar and vanilla extract in a saucepan over a medium heat

4. Remove from the heat and add the mashed bananas, mix well

5. Add the egg, mix again

6. Stir in the flour and the milk

7. Pour into your tin

8. And bake for 35 mins, until a skewer comes out clean. Leave to cool and enjoy!

It so soooo tasty. My friend and her family and friends approved! It was probably one of the best things I've baked so I will defo be baking it again whenever we have any left over bananas that need using up!

Tweet me the pictures of your attempts at @Emmajessica27

Coca Cola Advert

Heyyyy Everyone,

Just a short post but I just wanted to take a moment to appreciate the most recent Coca Cola advert, which if you haven't seen you need to watch it here:

It literally gives me chills every time I watch it, and no matter how many times I have seen it I still laugh when that guy falls down the stairs at their graduation, bless (*prays to god that doesn't happen to me at my graduation*). They picked the perfect song to go along with it and the kids singing along are so cute!

Well done Coca Cola!! Did you enjoy the advert?

Nectar Ad Points

Heyyyy Everyone,

I just want to make a blog post about my new found love.. Nectar Ad Points. If you haven't yet noticed from any of my previous blogs, I am a poor student! I can't get a job because I am in final year and don't have enough time around university work, and my parents have told me I am now at the age where I need to stand on my own two feet (WAAHH!). So I am left at finding ways of making money that don't take up too much of my time. I became addicted to eBay but theres only so much you can sell! Then my mums friend told me about Nectar Ad Points.

Nectar Ad Points is (obviously) linked to your Sainsburys nectar card. You basically watch videos for points. HOW SIMPLE!! It literally is as simple as that. I know, its crazy huh! I decided that one evening a week, whilst the adverts are on in whatever I am watching, I would collect nectar ad points. I have been doing it for about a month now and I am watching my nectar points grow faster than they ever have before.

There are loads of other ways to collect nectar points. There are also Nectar Surveys (but they are a bit long), you can collect points ordering online on loads of websites - I know never shop online without checking the nectar website to see if I can get points -, and then theres the traditional way of only choosing Sainsburys to shop at and collecting points on your weekly shop.

I know there are loads of places you can collect points, and trust me I am a point collecting whore, my purse is FULL of cards for every store I have ever been in. But my favourite at the moment is Nectar and I get so excited watching my points growing (sad I know).

If your looking at extra ways to make a bit of money (in the form of points) then why not give it a try! Do you know any easy ways of making money?

Should I be worried?

Heyyyy Everyone,

I've just waved off my Mother who has gone to Hong Kong for two weeks for work. I know what your thinking.. HOME ALONE, time to PARTAAAYYY, call all friends, stock up on alcohol, let the two week party begin.. That's how it used to be. My mum is away a lot for business and back in the day when I was 'cool and young' I would let my best friends move in and would turn the house into the coolest hang out location where we would chill all day watching movies and eating take away food and inviting extra people over for the evenings to party hard!

However, I have changed and I am not sure whether I should start to worry about myself. I wrote a blog about how I've grown up so fast HERE and this is another thing that has proved to me I am no longer a child, I am an adult (gulp!). I spent the morning scrolling through sky movies making a mental note of all the movies I'd like to watch over the next two weeks, I intend on picking up some more wool tomorrow so I can start a new scarf and I'm going to do some baking so I can write some more baking blogs. Wow the words of a middle aged women don't you think? Don't get me wrong my friends know I have a free house and are coming round tomorrow evening but not to partaayyy like we are 18 again, infact we are going to get a take away, watch a movie, and have girly chat (quite the change from 3 years ago!)

Although I seem to go from one extreme to the other. If I'm not home alone knitting then I'm visiting my little sister, where we can play on the swings for hours, do arts and crafts way past bed time and play 'guess who' in bed first thing in the morning, with her I am 5 years old again. Your probably thinking what I'm thinking 'Emma, act your age!' Although what do 21 (almost 22 ouch) year olds do? What am I missing? I suppose I can moan about not acting my age forever but to be completely honest with you, I am enjoying switching between a middle aged women and a 5 year old. I love baking and knitting and then I love being carefree running round the park. So I guess I've answered my own question. Why worry about myself when I'm loving life. I might not be the party animal I was when I was 18 but who cares, I'm loving life!

New Years Resolutions 2014

Heyyyy Everyone,

So it's that time of the year when we all make promises that the next year will be the best one yet. We make New Years Resolutions that last 1 week. Well I thought if I write them down in a blog this year it might encourage me to keep them (fingers crossed). I hope you can help me. If you know me and see me break them or see me post something on twitter that suggests I'm breaking any resolution make sure you tell me off!! So here goes.. 5 changes for 2014..

1. Sober January - At first I was going to give up alcohol but we can all pretend we are going to do that, it would never happen!! I think a month is more realistic. It will give my liver a well earned break and also leads nicely into the next resolution...

2. Lose the Christmas Weight - Diet, exercise, anything possible to get rid of that extra weight I have pilled on during the festive period!! I invested in the book of the 5:2 or fasting diet (whatever you want to call it) just before christmas and I am going to give it a go! I'd like to be my ideal weight by my birthday in April (I'm not going to reveal that ideal weight as its personal, but if you see me posting too many pictures of food on instagram please remind me of this resolution!)

3. Blog more - I am really enjoying blogging and have some fab ideas for posts in the new year. I am having a little make over on my blog in the first few weeks in the new year and I intend to keep up with blogging throughout the year!

4. Go to Dubai - Can that be a New Years Resolution? Well screw it, its going to be one of mine! My obsession with Dubai came after watching a group of British YouTubers fly out there to film for DailyMix's birthday. The place looks AMAZING! Its the next spot on my list! I think 2014 is the perfect time to tick it off

5. Make a plan - Ok, ok, so I know thats really vague, but I'm in limbo at the moment between plans. I graduate in 2014 and my life can go in two directions, I could make a resolution to get a job or to go travelling, but I'm not ready to make that decision yet. So my resolution is to make a plan for the next 3 years by graduation. I now vow that in May I will write a blog post which states my 3 year plan. So i have from now until May to start making some big decisions.

What are your New Years Resolutions?
